Dorothea Lange was born on May 26, 1895. Dorothea Lange was a photojournalist and an American documentary photographer. Lange is best known for the photographs she took during the Great Depression when working for the Farm Security Administration (FSA). Lange’s photographs influenced the development of documentary photography. One of the photographs that Lange took was of a migrant mother. This photo, also titled Migrant Mother, is said to be one of the best known photos in American history. In the 1940′s, she also photographed the Japanese internment camps, and these photographs show sad moments in American history. Dorothea Lange died on October 11th 1965 at the age of 70.
