Ansel Easton Adams was born on February 20, 1902. Adams was an American photographer and environmentalist. His black-and-white landscape photographs of the American West, especially Yosemite National Park, have been widely reproduced on calendars, posters, and in books. Adams developed the “Zone System” as a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final prints. He developed the “Zone System” with Fred Archer. His photographs were characterized by clarity and depth. Ansel Adams used large- format cameras. He used large format cameras because they have high resolution. The high resolution helped ensure the sharpness of his prints. Ansel Adams is most probably recognized as a famous photographer. His landscape images are amazing, and Adams has a tremendous amount of skill when it comes to creativity in the dark room. Adams died on April 22, 1984 at the age of 82.
